In the language of Taiwan’s Indigenous Paiwan people, “cedas” means “sunrise.” and in this song, the sunrise represents something pure, gentle, and beautiful.
To me, it carries the same feeling as when I first met this person—the sense of seeing someone in a very sincere and unguarded way.
As time passed, he may have gone through experiences and struggles that I could never fully understand. Those experiences may have changed him, hurt him, or caused him to hide parts of himself. But even so, the purity and beauty I first saw in him have never disappeared from my memory.
That is why the line “I wanna take you to see the cedas” is not about trying to change him back into who he used to be. It is a way of saying: even after everything you have been through, the person I first saw—the one who felt pure and beautiful like the sunrise—still exists in my heart.
In this song, the sunrise becomes more than a landscape. It becomes a memory, a way of seeing someone, and a symbol of the tenderness and beauty that can remain even after life has changed a person.
