AMOR PERDIDO (feat. Bucharest All-Star Orchestra)

AMOR PERDIDO is written in the Argentinean style called milonga. The milonga is essentially a slower version of a Tango, where the accents are in the same place. With the intro and verse written in the key of E minor, the chorus does a daring move and modulates to the key of C# minor, then back to E minor for the verse again. The idea was to start the song as a classical guitar piece with more and more added to it throughout. The beat by the drummer is called a Fat Back groove, which adds the right amount of subtle swing.

The strings were recorded by the Romanian National Symphony Orchestra. The sessions were recorded and filmed live in Bucharest, Romania. The Symphony Orchestra records under the name Bucharest All-Star Orchestra. The string arranger, Ric Flauding, passed away one week before the songs release. Before his untimely passing, making this as his last piece written and recorded, Ric stated that this was one of his favorite pieces he's worked on. His beautiful arrangement created a second melody acting as a counterpoint, call and answer, harmony and unison lines to the original melody. During the ending credits there is the string arrangement alone, highlighting the genius of Ric's writing.
