Tanya George was born and raised in Melbourne’s ever-evolving arts and entertainment hub, and it shows; her evolutionary soul - jazz - electro vocal tones takes musicianship to innovative new heights. Performing a cappella live with a vocal looper and effect pedals, she has astounded countless audiences with her 4.5-octave vocal range. A project which was found busking the streets of Melbourne has turned into a must watch performance on some huge stages.

Tanya has crafted and refined the art of combining elements of soul, jazz and pop to deliver excellence through her unique and dynamic vocal looping setup. Creating compositions and songwriting by looping; beatboxing, creating vocal bass lines, adding harmonies to spell out chords, vocal tricks, melodies and adding effects. Tanya creates songs completely a capella breaking down the boundaries of what makes normal pop music. This phenomenal skill is not easy live and is all produced from just her one voice. This set up saw her secure a place as a finalist on the Voice Australia 2021 (Top 5 Rita Ora’s team) and perform on some of the biggest festival stages in Australia such as International Jazz festival and Queenscliff Music festival.

After releasing her first solo EP Sonder (2018, produced by Tommy Spender) with a sold-out launch at Revolver Melbourne, Tanya followed up with her vocal looping sophomore EP, Normality (2020), produced by the formidable Jimmy Alexander (Awaken I Am). The album received high praise for her songwriting and vocal performance, particularly on singles ‘Writing Machine’, ‘My Hymn’ and the title track ‘Normality’ which rose to the top of multiple Triple J Unearthed charts. The EP earned George a feature in Rolling Stone Australia and the won the 2020 Alex Legg Memorial Foundation Award. 'Welcome' was selected by CIty of Melbourne and put up in the CBD for people to listen to as part of Home Made Sound project.

Selling out multiple headline shows, headlining festivals such as Sunshine Lunar New year to 25,000 people and playing the Grand Prix 2022, Tanya George is set to release her upcoming debut album.
