Elephant Rope

"Elephant Rope" is based on a real experience I had at the circus when I was a teenager. I never forgot seeing the elephants behind the circus enclosed with nothing but a thin rope. I asked my teacher why they didn't try to escape, and he said they don't know they can because they have been trained since they are babies to think they can't. I never forgot that lesson. I wrote this song for my son, who struggles with fears, and to admit my own elephant ropes. It is for everyone who struggles with a lie that holds them back from their purpose.
