Two and a half centuries of America are commemorated by guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan on GUITAR AMERICA 250: REVOLUTIONARIES AND ROCKSTARS, an exploration of the United States’ musical history. From The Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful to Paul Simon’s America and Eddie Van Halen’s 316, Larget-Caplan journeys through the soundscapes of a diverse nation, exploring its ideals and contradictions, and its reinventions and dreams. Modern and contemporary music is secure with new arrangements of John Cage and works by Alan Hovhaness, David Liptak, and a New Lullaby by Ian Wiese The diversity of country is symbolized with the inclusion of the premiere recording of Florence Price’s Adoration for violin and guitar arranged and performed by Irina Muresanu and Aaron Larget-Caplan. To punctuate the music and further explore the foundations of America, the album includes spoken texts for two poems, an essay, and a poetic interpretation of the Bill of Rights.
Spoken Word by the late poet Charles Coe, John Cage Trust director Jeffrey Lependorf, baritone Trevor Neal, and Aaron Larget-Caplan.
