"Níu líf Einars hrafns" (Nine Lives of Einarr the Raven) is the debut album of SIGURÐUR, a Czech-Icelandic atmospheric black metal project created by Martin Sigurður Kajzar and released through Hypnotic Dirge Records (Canada). Inspired by Norse mythology, Icelandic landscapes, and the spiritual traditions of the North, the album presents a cohesive narrative journey through a world shaped by the Poetic and Prose Eddas.

The story follows Einarr the Raven, a symbolic wanderer whose path leads through nine encounters with gods, giants, monsters, and other mythological beings. Each composition forms a chapter in a larger reflection on fate, sacrifice, wisdom, mortality, and rebirth, transforming ancient mythological motifs into a contemporary artistic narrative.

Musically, the album combines atmospheric black metal, funeral doom, Nordic folk influences, operatic vocal techniques, and bilingual lyrics in Icelandic and Czech. Cinematic arrangements and recurring thematic motifs create a unified listening experience in which storytelling and atmosphere are as important as the music itself.

Rather than retelling mythology, "Níu líf Einars hrafns" explores universal human questions through mythological symbolism. By connecting literature, language, and music, the album seeks to build a bridge between the ancient North and contemporary reflections on identity, memory, death, and transcendence.
