Beating You on Behalf of the Egg

This track is from my 2025 album, Divorce Debut, and it’s inspired by a quirky cohabitation mishap: a roommate who kept eating my eggs without asking. This sparked a reflection on the petty, vengeful urges we feel when wronged in a relationship—specifically, the mental image of swinging a coat hanger to 'punish' a partner. That cathartic, imaginative revenge is the core spirit of the song.

Written in Taiwanese with a touch of Japanese, this session defies traditional genre boundaries. We’ve blended Eastern heritage—using instruments like the Dizi (Chinese flute), Dongxiao, and Guzheng—with acoustic guitar, electric bass, drum machines, and synthesizers. Our goal was to prove that a four-person ensemble can create a massive, multi-layered soundscape that transcends categories. Through this fusion, I want to show that small-scale setups can create world-class, experimental music and bring the unique soul of Taiwanese songs to a global stage.
