The song “Goodbye” was written by Sophi Joan in 2022 while she was quarantining alone in a hotel room in Amsterdam after contracting COVID. Two years later, Evan went on to build the musical foundation of “Goodbye,” layering piano, guitar, drums, and the elements that now define the track. His instincts and musicality shaped the song into what it is today. The project was then passed to Jack Stenzel, whose production brought an added depth and emotional richness to the recording.
With the song finished, Sophi felt strongly that its story deserved a visual counterpart. The production for the “Goodbye” music video officially began in August 2025, with Adrian Doyne-Ditmas stepping in as their fearless director, bringing the process to new extraordinary heights. The crew was assembled largely through online forums, Facebook groups, and grassroots outreach - individuals who, for the most part, had never met before, coming together with a shared passion to create something beautiful and significant.
From storyboards and design decks to location scouting and rewrites, the process moved forward at full speed. Like any ambitious creative endeavor, it came with challenges and unexpected turns, but the team met each obstacle with resilience and collaboration. In many ways, those challenges only strengthened the final vision. The video was shot over three days, November 14–16, 2025, and was even graced with a rare gift: heavy Los Angeles rain on Friday night, which allowed the team to capture the striking dance sequence that now serves as one of the video’s most memorable moments.
Above all, this project stands as a testament to the dedication, generosity, and trust of an extraordinary team. Every individual involved brought their time, talent, and belief to the table, often under tight timelines and challenging conditions. “Goodbye” exists in its final form because of that collective effort. The gratitude for this team cannot be overstated—what began as a voice memo in isolation became a fully realized piece of art through shared vision, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to the story being told.
