_______________
"Oblivion", composed in 1982 by Astor Piazzolla, has become one of his most beloved tangos. Astor asked his friend Jorge Calandrelli, a young composer at the time, to orchestrate it for a recording with the Royal Philharmonic. Sadly, Astor died in the middle of production. But Jorge continued and composed a beautiful interlude in the middle as a tribute to his dear friend. The arrangement earned Piazzolla his first Grammy Award posthumously. It has been a true honor to have Jorge create a new version of his famous arrangement with harp as the main voice.
The music video begins with an aerial eye view of Buenos Aires, Argentina and focuses on the most important national historic monument in the city, "El Obelisco" (the Obelisk). It marks the spot where the Argentine national flag was raised in the city for the first time in 1536. Other locations are the exquisite Teatro Colón, one of the most famous opera houses in the world and the elegant Tango Porteno which was an MGM movie theater from the Art Deco era. Also seen is the famous Puente de la Mujer (Woman's Bridge), a rotating footbridge at Puerto Madero. It gets its name from the fact that most of the streets in the neighborhood are named after prominent Argentine women.
