Alienation is very common in the digital age. It could literally happen anywhere and everywhere, and could affect you no matter how old you are. The digital nature of life is isolation and the more digital you go, the more alienated you get. It’s also much easier to feel lonely in today’s world in comparison to earlier ages because people tend to live more than one life simultaneously and when you get alienated it affects all of them. The original lyric idea for 7:55 happened one evening in January 2022. The song title refers to that moment when I finished the first draft. Everybody has at some point reached a place in their life where they’ve been the saddest and the thought of being at the edge more often than not will uncontrollably flit into your mind. 7:55 is about being at that edge and urging people to get away from it. It’s important to remember there’s always someone who cares about you, you may not have met them yet, but they are out there. The sadness can become overwhelming. It can become the centre of your life and influence everything you do. It can cause you to make decisions and feel things you didn’t know were possible and it’s one to the most serious and terrible problems out there at the moment. This song is about my experience with those emotions, what they did to me, what I felt, but also how I managed to get over it. While I worked on the song off and on through 2022, May 2023 is when I completed the composition and pre-production before going to the studios.
